Transgender Is Not a New Phenomenon

Logo - BoyIt has been around for as long as man has occupied the planet. Many civilizations have recognized transgender people and have supported, even celebrated, their presence. Somehow, though, the presence of transgender people as a normal part of life seems to have been lost over time, to the point where all general knowledge of its existence disappeared into a sea of what has been shown to be misguided righteousness.

This website has been established by a small group of parents, educators and other concerned people. Its purpose is to provide a source of accurate information concerning the transgender condition, especially in children.

The Modern Age
It is only in the past 60 years or so, beginning primarily with the research conducted in the late 1940s by Dr. Harry Benjamin , his colleagues and his successors, that the transgender condition has been brought back into the light of day. Meanwhile, while Benjamin, et al, worked to discover its nature, circumstances were evolving that would reveal the nature and extent of the condition.

In the intervening years between then and the 21st century, much progress has been made by both the medical establishment and the transsexuals, themselves. Transgender has been identified and quantified not only in people whose lives have been forever changed for the better by those who have gone before, but by research that has shown that gender identity is an immutable part of one's genetic makeup. As such, it has been identified and diagnosed in children as young as three years old.[1] [2]

You, as a parent, friend or relative of such a person, a child with no voice loud enough to be heard by the world at large, are continuing the progress toward the understanding of a very special person -- the transgender child.
